Uniform
At Danesholme Academies we expect all pupils to wear the full uniform. The wearing of uniform gives pupils a sense of ‘belonging’, helps foster a pride in the academy and stops pupils coming to school in unsuitable clothes.
The required uniform for all years will comprise:
- Polo shirt with logo or plain white polo shirt
- Grey trousers or skirt or pinafore dress (jeans and cords are not allowed)
- Pullover or cardigan, in purple, with or without the Academy logo
- Grey socks with trousers, grey or white socks or grey tights with skirts
- Academy book bag
PE Kit:
- Black shorts
- Purple sports polo shirt with school logo, or plain purple or black t-shirt
- Suitable trainers or other PE footwear
- Plain black tracksuit as sometimes PE takes place outside (no branded sports logos)
Parents are asked to provide:
- Sensible black shoes
- Suitable footwear for PE
- A warm coat for travelling to and from school and wearing at playtimes and lunchtimes
Most school uniform, including purple jumpers and cardigans, can be purchased at local supermarkets.
Our school uniform provider is Nationwide School Uniforms. Please visit their website at:
We have a pre-loved uniform shop which will be open EVERY TUESDAY from 3pm - 3:30pm at the JUNIOR Academy Hall Doors.
If you cannot make this day/time, please message Mrs Docherty on Class Dojo directly with your child's size and she will arrange some uniform for you (subject to availability). Parents new to the school who wish to use this facility are advised to contact the office.
Jewellery
For safety reasons, only stud earrings are allowed and then only one earring in each ear lobe.
Any child who elects to have their nose pierced or additional ear piercings will have to remove these during school times for health and safety reasons.
Inexpensive watches may be worn, but not smartwatches. It is the child’s responsibility to look after these articles.
NO JEWELLERY may be worn during PE lessons or sporting activities.
Hairstyles
Excessive hairstyles are strongly discouraged; it is expected that children will come to school with a practical and manageable hairstyle.
‘Cuts’ of any shape or design, including 'Mohican' styles, are not allowed, nor are multiple hair colours.
We recommend that long hair is tied back at all times. All hair accessories should be modest.
Make up and Cosmetics
Make up, cosmetics, nail varnish and false nails are not considered appropriate or consistent with our Academy uniform and pupils will be asked to remove them.
The Academy does not permit such products to be worn by any child unless there is a specific event for which the Principal has given permission.
Uniform donations are greatly accepted. Please hand these into the reception office, thank you.
